Eli's opened in 1961, the same year our Vikings played their first NFL season. While the Vikes' popularity continues to wax and wane, Eli's has undying loyalty from downtowners returning in anticipation of another clean sweep with food & cocktails. As local Eli's lore goes, owners removed a pool table to make room for a kitchen in the shotgun space. That little kitchen continues to kick out some of the tastiest pub fare in the city — all available daily until 1 a.m. Regulars flock for the nine weekly specials (e.g. Peanut Butter & Jelly Wings), specialty cocktails, perfect martinis, and PBR tall boys. On any given evening after the witching hour, you'll see hordes of white button-up service-industry folk in for a beer and a bite after a shift, or a couple quietly dining after a Broadway show. Bill Withers plays over a backdrop of soft lit, sexy-yet-discreet décor, and the vibe in this 70-seat place is that you've landed at everyone's bar — where regular people feel special and special people feel regular.
